I’ve been several times to this restaurant and I went again the other days. I love it!
I first heard about it in an article about the 10 top bistros in Paris. La Clementine was one of them. It’s the kind of Bistro you can go to with your family, your friends, or your significant other.
The service is absolutely fantastic and you always get a warm welcome from the owners, an absolutely charming couple who run this restaurant in a very professional way.
The cuisine is from the South of France. The menu changes with the rhythm of the seasons and the products of the market. The décor is quite sober; old phones, old pans, and boxes of products from the 50s are displayed here and there. Familiar for us but very fascinating for our kids. My daughter has never seen a dial phone before.
As from it location, in the 2e arrondissement very close to the Opéra, locals as well as shrewd foreigners frequent the restaurant.
We were six, so we were able to order a variety of dishes from the menu. For appetizers, I was able to taste the Lasagne of Ricotta, the eggplant with honey, the brick with goat cheese, and the “Oeufs pochés” (poached eggs). They were all very good but the latter was my favorite. As for the main dish, I ordered the duck with fig. Although it was very good, I highly recommend the “Daube de joue de porc”; It simply melts in your mouth. Just sublime!
Chez Clementine also has a very good selection of wine. We tasted “Les premieres Faugères,” Domaine of Jean-Michel Alquier, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
I hate skipping dessert! The mi-cuit is a big success but if you ever go there in wintertime, they usually have a Baba-au-rhum that is simply to die for!
Clémentine has a very good price/quality ratio. Menu appetizer/entrée for 26€ or appetizer/entrée/dessert for 35€.
You can’t be disappointed!
Please Send me a comment if you have a chance to try it.
