With my girlfriends, we like to end our exhausting week with a nice and fun happy hour. We always want to change place but for some reason, we end up going to the same place each time. This time we decided to change for good!

Helen decided we’d go to La bouteille sur la table; which means the bottle on the table. It is in an alleyway, a small street off boulevard des Batignolles between number 92 and number 88 in the 17th arrondissement.
The place is quite small: there are 18 seats. It’s maybe better to make a reservation, although Friday at 6:00 pm it was fine. The concept is very friendly and the choice of wine very interesting. As they don’t make you pay the cork fee, the prices are very attractive. You can drink by the glass or by the bottle. You can also buy bottles of wine to take with you. They also operate as a wine store and actually sell to restaurants as well.

It’s open for lunch and dinner; they have a few kinds of terrines and rillettes for 7.20€. They serve a dish of the day for 12.50€. They have boudin noir (blood sausage), salad, foie gras, and little things to nibble with your glass of wine.

We ordered the “ardoise de charcuterie et fromage” to share; a combo of prosciutto and salami and different kinds of cheese. It was perfect for a happy hour.

The décor is very simple but wine bottles surround you. It really feels like you are in a wine cellar. The place is very cozy and the service very good. They have a very large choice of wine from different regions and grapes; Languedoc et Roussillon, Bordeaux, Alsace, Vallée du Rhône… The choice can be difficult and overwhelming but the owner is very kind and pleasant. He knows his products and he will guide you in your choice.

La bouteille sur la table is really a great place to try! If you go there on Friday around 6:00 pm you might see me with my friends!
Cheers!
