So my friend and blogger Lisa kindly invited me to celebrate my birthday at this newly opened Chinese restaurant: Hunan Slurp. At first glance, it was a great choice as Pete Wells, famous restaurant critic at the New York Times, wrote highly about it. And at second glance, it was still a great choice!
Mak Kwai-pui, the former chef of a three Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong, decided to open up with his partner chef Leung Fai Keung a 20-seat dim sum restaurant in Mongkok, a very busy neighborhood in Hong Kong – this restaurant was Tim Ho Wan.
One of the great pleasures of being in Manhattan is being able to walk for hours with no particular goal, especially in some areas like Chinatown, where the streets are no longer denominated by street numbers and one can easily get lost. I love to stroll through this neighborhood and discover the Chinese grocery stores, fish markets, and local shops that populate the area. Chinatown in NYC is quite exotic!
Amazing 66 is the first Chinese restaurant I went to in Chinatown ten years ago. Since then it has become our family Chinese restaurant.
