What an unexpected and crazy weekend! The wind was blowing with rage last Friday; the trees were falling like dominoes, spewing electrical cables and producing huge damages in Westchester, NY. We were out of power from Friday at 1 pm to Monday at around 5 pm.
As usual, when I travel I do my homework in advance and prepare a list of restaurants I wish to try and hopefully share on my blog. Le Cornichon was the first I tried during my last trip to Paris. It was a great kick-off to my sojourn!
Only chef Hideki Nishi and his refined cuisine could come up with this poetic name for a restaurant: Neige d’été or “Summer Snow”. With a minimalist decor in shades of white and grey, the neutral decor allows you to focus on what is the most important: the food.
Lunch with my son in one of the trendiest Indian restaurants in NYC – at least this was plan A. Unfortunately, it was fully booked, so we ended up in the cheapest Indian restaurant I have ever been to! How did that happen? I’m not sure, but we did not regret it at all!
The first time I saw chef Thibault Sombardier, it was on television and I fell in love, not with him – he’s too young, but with his work and his passion for what he is doing. He didn’t win the finals at Top Chef 2014 but nevertheless, he left as a winner!
Mak Kwai-pui, the former chef of a three Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong, decided to open up with his partner chef Leung Fai Keung a 20-seat dim sum restaurant in Mongkok, a very busy neighborhood in Hong Kong – this restaurant was Tim Ho Wan.
How did two chefs, Jeremiah Stone and Fabian Von Hauske – allegedly lovers of Cheez-its and McDonald’s French fries – come up with such a refined and ingenious menu at Contra? I don’t have the answer really, but one thing is for sure, they deserve their Michelin star without a doubt!
A traditional bistro in the heart of Paris! Yes maybe… but in reality, it’s much more than that. With its joyful manager along with exquisite cuisine, this is what makes Le Bon Saint Pourçain a successful restaurant!
