The Cosmo – more officially known as the Cosmopolitan – was created around the 1980s, but gained popularity in the 1990s with the television series Sex and the city, an HBO classic for my ladies.

I can’t say for sure which bartender created the light pink Martini, but it was a favorite of the characters on the show – Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte – and is my favorite cocktail as well. Some people refer to it as the Martini of Manhattan!

The Cosmo is a combination of vodka, lime juice, cranberry juice, and a dash of Cointreau. It’s not too sweet, not too bitter; it’s citrusy and deliciously fresh. If you have not had one yet, I strongly encourage you to try one – not that I’m pushing for alcohol consumption!

I’m sharing with you my recipe for those who want to try their talents as mixologists.
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz vodka – it’s important to use high-quality Vodka.
½ oz Cointreau
½ oz fresh lime juice
1 oz cranberry juice
Ice for the shaker
Lime or lemon wedge for the decor
Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Shake well.
Strain the mix into a chilled Martini glass.
Garnish with a lime or lemon wedge. You can also peel a strip from the lemon skin, twist with your hands, and add it in the glass. It will give an extra aroma to the drink.

Cosmo is very easy to prepare but you have to carefully balance the ingredients. Remember, not too sweet, not too citrusy!
Cheers everyone!
