I landed at Haneda airport on April 1st at 6:20 pm and I was at Nanbantei at 8:30 pm to have my first dinner in Tokyo! My first for this trip of course!
Nanbantei is my favorite place for yakitori. It used to be our family restaurant when living in Tokyo from 2009 to 2012.

Yakitori is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. The term kushiyaki is also used for skewered and grilled meat or vegetables. They are grilled over a charcoal fire. During or after cooking, the meat is typically seasoned with tare sauce or salt.

At Nanbantei the atmosphere is very warm and the servers are very friendly. Everything is cooked to perfection. There is a very large choice of meat, fish, and vegetables to choose from.

The BBQ is in the middle of the restaurant and you can see the cook preparing the yakitori if you are seated at the counter.

A dry cold saké served in the traditional Japanese way: the saké is poured until it is overflowing the glass and filling the box to the brim.
