Danish chef Ronny Emborg, the executive chef of the two Michelin-starred restaurant Atera, is an architect, a designer, and a true artist!

Every dish he makes is a creation. His work is precise and delicate. Like an artist chooses his materials, he chooses his ingredients and manipulates them to produce a true piece of art – ephemeral, but no less a piece of art. Ronny Emborg’s creativity has a beauty, a shape, and a powerful flavor.
The three-sided counter surrounding the working area is spacious enough to allow the guests to have some privacy and at the same time appreciate the team in action preparing the fabulous dishes. The layout is more suited for couples, but there is a table on the side that can accommodate a party of five. You can enjoy the activities in the kitchen from afar and be able to talk with all your guests.
The atmosphere is gently lit and quiet, unlike the majority of the restaurants in New York City. The background music is catchy without being too intrusive, and a soft luminosity illuminates the dishes to showcase them in an ingenious way.
With Atera team – second from the far right chef Ronny Emborg
Perfection is how I would describe Atera. Not a single flaw in the service, atmosphere, welcome – and the food was just exceptional. I invite you to look at the pictures of some of the 20 dishes we had during our tasting menu. Chef Emborg’s cuisine engages all your senses, and whatever high expectations you may have met and exceeded throughout the dinner.
Salmon with nori seaweed and radish presented like mini-tartlets
Oyster with yuzu and shallot
Golden Osetra caviar served with pistachio ice cream and IPA (Indian Pale Ale)
Shredded foie gras with ribbons of apple and coulis of langoustine
Fresh scallop with sweet corn and carrot’s emulsion
Halibut celeriac and kohlrabi with the right amount of microgreens
Cauliflower, yolk, parmesan emulsion, and black truffle
Guinea hen served with green bean and potato purée
Grape syrup with raisins for dessert
White chocolate with sea buckthorn ice cream
A bottle of 2011 Crozes-Hermitage suggested by the sommelier was an elegant pairing.
To accompany our protein dishes, a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape was a great choice.
The experience at Atera is not just interesting, it’s unforgettable. Atera is not a restaurant were you simply dine; it is a journey that lasts long after in your mind
