A berry a day keeps cancer, heart attacks, cardiovascular diseases, and more away! They are full of vitamins (C and K), an excellent source of folates and fiber, and they are high in antioxidants. Each berry has its particularities, but I’m safe when I say eating berries is very good for your health!

Berries are summer fruits, although we can find them all year long now. They are cheaper and tastier from June to September.
As we are entering spring, I thought it would be a good time to share my delicious crumble recipe.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 45 min
Serving: 8 people
Ingredients:
125gr (1 cup) flour
150gr (1 1/2 cup) almond powder
125gr (4 oz) butter
100gr (1/2 cup) sugar
1 kg (2 lb) Mix of berries: strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry.
50gr (1/2 cup) sliced almond
20gr (2tbs) sugar for the fruits

1- Preheat the oven to 200ºC or 400ºF.
2- Pour the flour, the almond powder, the sugar, and the butter cut in pieces into a bowl. With the tip of your fingers, mash the butter with the other ingredients. Keep doing so until all the ingredients are mixed together, resulting in pea-sized lumps. Don’t use your palms – this will flatten the dough and ruin the crumble.
3- Use individual ramekins or a large dish that can go in the oven; cover the bottom with the fruit mix and sprinkle the top with the sliced almonds and the remaining sugar for the fruits. Shake the dish gently to evenly spread the top layer.
4- Top the berries mix evenly with the mixture and bake for 45 min.
5- The topping should have a golden brown color, and the fruits should be a little bit melted, bubbly, and warm. The combination of the crispy dough and the softness of the berries mix is absolutely delicious!
Serve each portion with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Bon appetite!
